Are You Messy or Neat?

In today’s episode Kathy and Jason discuss another lifestyle question. Are you messy or neat?
Maybe you don’t even fit 100% in one category and that may make you neatly messy! Or maybe you’re more messily neat?
The big follow up question is, what does this say about our personalities?

Listen in to learn more about us and maybe even yourself at: http://www.jasonmefford.com/fireandearth190/

Are you a little out of balance?

Do you feel like your life is a little out of balance?

Would you like more energy and want to feel happier?

Who doesn’t!

What if you could get that without popping pills, or loading up on caffeine?

Then this podcast episode with my friend, Dr. Jeannie Arunima is made just for you.

And we aren’t just talking about work / life balance, but balancing mind, body and spirit… something so many of us neglect, and when you do you just seem a little off.

E283 From Both Sides Now

There are two sides to every story, and in this #jammingwithjason #podcast we dig into Joni Mitchell’s great song “Both Sides Now.” Why? If you think you know everything, or are only looking at things from one angle, chances are you aren’t seeing the whole picture.

And when you don’t see the whole picture that leads to confusion, misunderstandings, arguments, or staying stuck in a very narrow point of view.

Wisdom really comes from realizing the more we know, the less we really know as we see from both sides.

Kobe Bryant and Shitty Leaders

What do Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Steph Curry have in common? Besides being world-class professional basketball players, they have also had the same performance coach, our guest on the podcast Alan Stein Jr.

While these men may be peak performers in their craft, anyone has the ability to be at the top of their game in their chosen crafts and that’s what Alan’s here to share.

In this episode we have Alan Stein Jr. to share with us his brand new book “Sustain Your Game”!

For quite a number of years Alan has been a Basketball Performance Coach for a lot of the biggest names in the NBA. Having worked with these amazing athletes over the years Alan has taken a lot of lessons he has learned in that field and has applied it to the world of business and becoming a keynote speaker.

Alan’s book “Sustain Your Game” as well as his first book “Raise Your Game” share the methods that the greats use to become the best that they can be, and shows you how those methods and teachings can be applied to your life to make you great at whatever avenues in life that you want to pursue!

Alan has figured out what makes top performers, the top performers and he shares those secrets in this episode.

AND…

Have you ever worked for someone you thought was a horrible boss? Maybe you even used some choice words to describe them. Most people have.

Before you make any more judgements, take a listen to this podcast episode with Mark Robinson, the Shitty Leadership Coach.

That shitty leadership you experienced is more likely the result of a shitty culture and trained behavior, not necessarily the fault of the leader… which is a good thing since as Mark admitted, we are often the shitty leader and don’t even realize it. I’ve been guilty of this too in my career.

Could you be a shitty leader and not even know it?

The nice thing: culture and trained behavior can be fixed as Mark explains. The more active leadership and self aware we all are, the less shit we bring into the workplace.

A few of the things we discuss in this episode: frequency, energy vampires, emotional intelligence and maturity, being triggered, determining if you are a shitty leader, right vs. kind, why people are terrified to be authentic at work, vulnerability, the power of choice, self awareness as a leader, hurt people hurt people, treating people as individuals, customized approach to managing, shame, blame and bullies… and so much more.

Running Naked

I’ve started running naked, and I’m loving it.

Nothing but me and mother nature out in front of me, takes me back to my youth.

I feel more vibrant and alive.

Now before I get much further I have a few things I should disclaim.

I am not running without any clothes.

That would be dangerous for me in many ways, and embarrassing for others (they’d be jealous of my god-like body :).

And I’m walking more than I’m running since I am getting back into the swing of running again and don’t want to over-do-it and risk injury like I have in the past.

Slow and steady wins the race anyway.

What I’m doing is going without my phone or any electronic devices.

I used to listen to music, podcasts, trainings, worry about my phone tracking my progress, but I’ve given that up for now.

Just me, nature, and my thoughts. Time just for me connecting with my body and this beautiful world.

I’m hearing the birds again and noticing things around and within me that I’ve been ignoring for years.

When was the last time you went without your phone?

Has technology become a distraction that takes you away from just BEing you for a few minutes?

What are you missing out on in life because of distracting behaviors and white noise that’s always on in the background?

Why not get naked more often…

It’s good for the mind, body and spirit.

It’s Your Story Not Your Situation

Today Kathy and Jason are discussing rejection and how they both interpret it.
Often times the fear of rejection can hold people back in life, and how difficult it may be, we can train ourselves to become okay with hearing “no”!
Once that fear is overcome we can open many new doors that may not have otherwise been available to us.

Balancing Mind, Body and Spirit and the Number 3

“One is the loneliest number that you’ll ever do
“Two can be as bad as one,
“It’s the loneliest number since the number one.”

  • One by Harry Nilsson (covered by Three Dog Night).

But what about the number three? one of my favorite numbers.

All around you are things in three, and in my opinion three’s company, not a crowd.

Father, mother, and child. Red, yellow, and blue. Maiden, mother, and crone. Head, heart, and gut. Sun, moon, and stars. Father, son, and holy ghost. 1, 2, and 3.

When you see three of the same animal together it’s usually a message, omen, and animal medicine from the universe like I saw today with three hummingbirds, an animal I have a special connection to.

It’s normal to see one and sometimes two hummingbirds together, but when there’s three it’s time to take notice as I did today thinking about this post.

I was thinking about mind, body and spirit.

For most of my life I’ve focused on my mind. Some of the time I’ve focused on my body, and most of the time I’ve been spiritual.

People often talk of balance, like between work and personal life… but what if balance isn’t really between one and another, but between multiple things? What if balance isn’t about equal distribution either?

I’ve neglected my body the last 10 years of my life, so it’s not a surprise that my weight has fluctuated up and down by 60-70 pounds during this time. I was out of balance.

I realized too that some of the plateaus in my mind and spiritual work is being caused by being out of alignment from neglecting my body. If I’m going to continue evolving my mind and spirit, I have to let my body catch up by giving that part of my life more attention.

Do you feel balanced in your life?

What areas are you neglecting that could use a little TLC?

Only focusing on one or two aspects of our life is a lonely place to be, but three is company and much more aligned and whole.

If you’d like more information about getting better balance in your life with mind, body and spirit just reply to this email and let me know 🙂
